Ashlyn brings over 15 years of clinical experience in both private and public hospitals and aged care, coupled with a decade of academic experience. She has held various executive roles, most notably founding the Health Workforce Academy (HWA) during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the Director-Coordinator of HWA, Ashlyn played a pivotal role in shaping the academy's strategic direction. Under her leadership, the HWA enrolled over 250 members both nationally and internationally, demonstrating her strategic insights, visionary approach, and sound financial acumen. The HWA platform facilitated the development of another key research initiative, Aged Care in Rural Areas (ACRA). Ashlyn has made significant contributions to the aged care workforce as an educator, teaching university courses on the ‘care of older adults.’ Her international research efforts include collaborations in Sweden, where she worked with colleagues to develop solutions for upskilling the aged care workforce in rural and regional areas. Understanding and addressing key challenges in aged care is central to Ashlyn’s research agenda. She has led numerous projects aimed at improving the aged care workforce through collaboration with industry colleagues worth just over $4 Million dollars. Ashlyn embraces diversity and inclusivity in all her endeavours, valuing the diverse perspectives and backgrounds of those she works with. She is committed to the principles of reconciliation and consistently fosters an inclusive and supportive environment that respects different ideas, experiences, and cultural backgrounds. Ashlyn promotes open dialogue and active listening, maintaining a positive attitude that enhances her resilience, resourcefulness, and persistence in achieving important goals. Her deep passion for improving care for older adults drives her to continuously strive for meaningful and sustainable solutions that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. |
