IAGG2026 – Thank you, Amsterdam!
What an incredible time at IAGG2026! The 23rd World Congress of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) was, without a doubt, an event to be remembered, with over 3,500 participants from more than 80 countries, 1,675 presentations, and a rich program of keynotes, symposia, workshops, poster sessions and networking.
The Aussie cohort did not disappoint, from standing room only appearances, creative posters and art installations, to packed lecture halls and theatres, our members, partners and sector colleagues provided exceptional research, education and innovation reflective of an enormously talented pool of delegates. We were thrilled to see so many of you in person, showcasing the strength of Australian research, policy and practice on the global stage.
At the Closing Ceremony, Congress President Martijn Huisman reflected on four inspiring days of science, collaboration and connection, thanking all participants, speakers, chairs, sponsors, partners and committees for their invaluable contributions. He then invited everyone to carry the IAGG spirit forward beyond Amsterdam as we look ahead to the next World Congress - Sydney 2030. We can’t wait to host the world at the 24th IAGG World Congress, including the 2-day Knowledge in Ageing Leadership Summit in Tāhuna Queenstown, Aotearoa New Zealand, and look forward to seeing everyone there.
